There are many competing media players, and they have their pro's and con's.

What we the users need is a simple, uncluttered audio player that is easy to use, and interfaces with remote controls and multi-zone delivery systems.

Above all, AUDIO QUALITY should be the primary consideration.

A good equalizer is essential.

I'd also like to see a digital crossover system through which bass mid and treble can be separated within the player, and transmitted to discrete amplifiers and directly connected drivers. That would be cool.

I use amarok as my hi-fi source, on a media center with SPDIF out.

Digital into pre amp, analogue to power amp.

I shall neither move to Amarok 2 or Jaunty until the equaliser is functional.

Looking forward to it

I've tried since december and I really want to like it but 2.0 just plain sucks compared to 1.4 - I've migrated back. Sorry.

Where is the old and good "configure and make" building process? I cannot compile the new release it gives me lots of cmaking errors. I truly miss the old and usual building method.
I was so looking forward to build amarok 2.0 as version 1.4 truly has a very bad sound support and it always prevent always apps to use the sound system. I hope this is fixed in 2.0, but I cannot compile it. cmake says it cannot find a "kde_add_plugin" function. Please restore the "configure and make" building method.

So far, I am very impressed. I was never very fond of the old version, but this new one is really nice. The only two issues that are keeping me from adopting it full time are that it does not seem to be able to play Orb 2.0 streams (.pls, .aix, or .ram) like the old version did, and there is no song/artist information being displayed for radio/Shoutcast streams...

Great job,
I have been using this since pre alpha. I really like the new design. I think you hear from people who dont like it, and the people who do dont say anything, so i wanted to say so. Looking back at amarok 1.4, it seems so windows 3.1 or 95 styled. The newer graphics go a long way to making it appealing to a wider audience. Also have been using the port for mac on my macbook, and I love the ampache plug in. That one more layer of detail makes all the difference in my view. All of my mac friends are like, what is that! great job
