Thanks to Sven I stumbled upon a rather cute and very well done Free movie/musical called Sita Sings The Blues. Excellent (greatest?) love and break-up story with great music and cats.  Watch it! ;-)

I’d desperately love to find some more great free-culture movies like this one. They seem to be out there, but horribly dispersed and decentralised so that they’re difficult to find.

What we really need is Jamendo for movies!

great movie, i just watched it yesterday. I’ve found it while searching for new movies to watch in a foreign movies blog and what a surprise when i entered planetkde and found your blog post :)

If you haven’t seen yet you can watch “Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed”, a great 1926 animation film which this “sita sings the blues” reminded me a lot.

Nice! @ Bugsbane – true, Creative Commons does have a search for blip.tv, but a proper dedicated service like Jamendo would be cool

Thanks for the post, just watched this with family tonight and it was so enjoyable.

The blend of styles and characterizations is so imaginative.

I’m kind of surprised that no one has mentioned these so far:
Elephant’s Dream (http://orange.blender.org) The first OpenMovie by the Blender Foundation
Big Buck Bunny (www.bigbuckbunny.org) The second one- still available on DVD if you wish to support the Blender Foundation.

If you would like a glimpse into the latest one, Sintel, you can see it at durian.blender.org.
