KDE e.V. needs your help to secure funding for one of our next sprints. All you have to do is click a few buttons. A German bank is giving away 1000 Euro each to the 1000 associations who can get the most votes. Everyone has 3 votes. Please do vote with all 3 for KDE. With just a few clicks you can make a difference!
Here’s what you have to do:
1) go to https://verein.ing-diba.de/sonstiges/10115/kde-ev and click “Stimme abgeben”
2) enter your email and the captcha it asks for and then click “absenden”
3) you’ll get an email to confirm your vote – click the link in the email
4) you’ll get to a website – click “Stimme abgeben”
You can do this 3 times in a row. If KDE is among the top 1000 associations we’ll get 1000 Euro.
Well, using konqueror it is not so easy:
1) Click link in akregator.
2) Switch to webkit view to compensate for broken javascript
3) Fill in email and captcha
4) Receive mail
5) Click link in mail
6) Switch view to webkit to compensate for broken javascript

I wanted to query when you say in a row. Does that mean in a day? And is it per e-mail or per IP address?

The contest ends in the middle of November.
I see we are already #84. Nevertheless, it would have been better if you could have produced better propaganda so that non-geeks can also figure out the use of KDE. Look for instance to the propaganda of #1 (Krambambulli Jagdhundhilfe) or #2 (Deutsches Youth for Understanding Komitee), these texts appeal immediately to a wide audience. Also #7 (Musikpiraten) is presenting an action that benefits everyone (who doesn’t like free music books for children?). What does the man in the street read for KDE: we produce free software (“what is that?”, “why should I care?”), we are going to use the 1000 Euro for sponsoring one of our many worldwide developer meetings (“why should I care?”, “why should I pay for some geeks to have fun?”, “they already have many worldwide meetings, no need for me to sponsor another one”). Instead you should have produced propaganda about promoting freedom, preventing lock in, producing accessible software, respect for other cultures, promoting values like sharing knowledge, interoperability between desktop, tablet and smartphone. And the money will serve to buy hardware to test our software on, so that our software will work on *your* device too (that appeals more than using the money for a meeting).
I doubt a lot of people will vote for associations they don’t know already anyway.
Help me understand here, you say “A German bank is giving away 1000 Euro each to the 1000 associations who can get the most votes” – but there seems to be less than 1000 associations who have signed up for this thing. So therefore KDE is already guaranteed the 1000EUR?
No. I think more signed up already. And it counts where we stand at the end of the contest in the middle of November.
On https://verein.ing-diba.de/club/presentation/search you can see that there are 8259 organisations (that number is increasing because the previous time I looked there were only 7xxx participants). I see that we are at #64 now with 754 votes in favour. So we are heading in the good direction.
